Anena (Nina)'s Story
Married my husband, Charlie, in 1972 and moved to Cutler, CA. Worked in a lumberyard/construction company office for 4 years in Dinuba, CA. Moved to Dinuba in 1973 and have been there since. Worked in the office of a tree fruit packing company for 7 years and then started my family.
We have a married 42 year old daughter in Dinuba who has given us 3 beautiful grandchildren (a 6 year old grandson, an 10 year old granddaughter and a 12 year old granddaughter). We also have a married 39 year old son in Weaverville, CA with our 11 year old grandson and 6 year old granddaughter.
I worked until my daughter was 2 and then quit and found out I was pregnant with my son and decided to stay home with them both. During this time my mom had her leg amputated because of diabetes and 5 years later she passed away (in 1990). For 16 years I was very involved as a room mother, a PTA mom, a PTA officer (usually treasurer &/or auditor), and a band mom for both for 8 years while they were in Jr. High and High school. I was also a Home Interiors Displayer for almost 20 years.
25 years ago, when my daughter was a junior and my son was a 7th grader, I went back to work and started working for Dinuba Unified School District at Dinuba High School with our teen mom program. After 3 1/2 years I moved over to a ...Expand for more
library assistant position at one of our elementary schools for 4 hours a day. During this time my dad got sick and I had a chance to go back and forth to Clovis several times a week for 2 years to take care of him until he passed away in 2001. 2 years later I transferred to our junior high school library for a 6 hour position as the librarian at Washington Intermediate School (7th & 8th grade) for 18 1/2 years until I retired in December 0f 2019.
During that time I took computer classes, business classes, child care classes, and a Real Estate Class at Reedley College and library classes at COS in Visalia. I'm now enjoying working in my garden, reading, and helping my kids with our grandkids.
We liked camping and traveling California to see all it's natural & man-made wonders but haven't been able to travel much once the grandkids arrived. I dabble in gardening and flowers, like my mom did, and am forever pulling weeds!!!
I've been involved with church for over 40 years and have been doing a variety of kids crafts for Sunday School, craft days, & VBS for many, many years, and helped in the nursery (babies to age 3) for 10 years.
We celebrated our 51st Wedding Anniversary in February and look forward to our son's 2 kiddos coming down for the month of July, like they do every year!!!
